Off Grid Home › Forums › Reply To: Let’s all say HI to kick off the New Year!
Hi AClarino, everyone has their own definition of what it means to be living off-grid, yours isn’t mine, mine isn’t yours, I don’t think anyone should tell another person “if you aren’t living under MY definition of “off the grid” then you aren’t really living off the grid”…
This has been a point of discussion here and elsewhere. Personally I refer to myself as living off the grid, and no one else gets to tell me I’m not, even if I’m not living up to their personal standard of living off-grid.
I know you meant well and were trying to educate people, it would be nice if you would say that this is your OPINION instead of stating it like it’s a fact. Please understand that there are different levels of being off-grid, there is no right or wrong way to do it, being off-grid doesn’t necessarily mean being 100% self sufficient, that is 2 separate things. I have people (usually online) ask me how I can be “off-grid” and still have internet connection, their idea of being off-grid apparently means living in a cave, wearing skins and eating worms, LOL…
I would love to see more of how you are living and surviving, it’s interesting to see the different ways people do what they do. Don’t let this run you off, post more goodies here for all of us.
Since you posted this in 2 places, I’ll copy this reply there as well.
