Marjory Wildcraft

marjroywildcraft

I just listened to a Coast to Coast am show featuring Marjory Wildcraft as a guest, I have heard her name before and probably watched a YouTube video or two about her, but after listening to her interview, I’m so much more impressed with her, if you aren’t familiar with her, I think you will be impressed too…  When I first heard about her, I thought she must be some kind of hippy tree hugger, not that there’s anything wrong with that :) it just wasn’t my cup of tea.  Turns out I was way wrong, well she may be a hippy tree hugger, but she is so much more than that!…

Tiny homes, cheap!

portablebuilding

I am starting to see more and more of these shed style homes, they remind me of Morgan buildings. They are a glorified shed that can be finished out to turn into a living space, perfect for the rural areas with fewer or no “codes”. I am seeing these cheap, really cheap and they will usually deliver them to just about anywhere. I see lots of potential, you could start out with one and add to it, or even have multiple units for the different parts of your living areas, living room/bedroom, kitchen/bathroom, guestroom/art studio… Many of these can be had for less than it cost to buy a car.…

Former 10-term congressman Roscoe Bartlett living off the grid in West Virginia

Former Rep. Roscoe Bartlett lives tucked away on an off-the-grid swath of West Virginia woodland that serves as an implicit indictment of the inside-the-Beltway life he and so many others have led — a life reliant on the federal government.

At first glance, Bartlett is following a conventional post-politics path. After the 10-term congressman lost his bid for re-election in 2012, he began consulting for the defense industry, advising firms on how to pitch federal agencies, a part-time job that brings him to Washington occasionally.

Looking for like-minded people

My name is Sarah. At the age of six I became the only vegetarian in my family- a lifestyle choice I have been committed to for 13 years now. As a child, I realized that society was damned; too greedy for their own good. I never did understand why people cared so much about excess they had in their everyday lives, yet couldn’t care less about our mother earth we have now desecrated.
I looked up at the stars almost every night- the ones viewable from the city- and wished to be in a better place. I wished to disown the race that didn’t know what it stood for; that being the population, as a whole.…

Cuadrilla Killa – Lord Browne

The former boss of British Petroleum, who presided over a declining safety record before he perjured himself in court documents, has spoken up in favour of fracking.

Lord Browne is now boss of fracking company Cuadrilla Resources, which is drilling for oil in the UK. Still a senior figure in the UK Government, Browne told the UK Telegraph that fracking is in UK’s “national purpose” and is more environmentally friendly than importing gas.

The 65-year-old, dubbed the Cuadrilla Killa by opponents, stepped down from BP six years ago in dramatic circumstances, having committed perjury as he fought a high court battle to keep his sex life private. He was high-handedly entertaining his boyfriend on his Corporate expense account and took out an injunction to prevent the media reporting the fact.…

Edward Snowden Guardian Article Newspaper

Why has The Guardian done nothing to protect Edward Snowden?

When Edward Snowden blew the whistle on Government spying by the US on its own citizens, he did the world a favour. But the newspaper he chose as the conduit for his revelations did its source no favours. It is now clear that Snowden should have gone straight to Ecuador or Venezuela or even Cuba.

But the Guardian was content to see him onto a plane from Hawaii to Hong Kong, knowing full well that the Chinese government were unlikely to harbour a enemy of the United States at this delicate juncture in the relationship between the two superpowers.…

Mother calls her son in missing

DanielandSusanneLandgrebeThe mother of a 20-year-old from Newton Iowa who went on a cross-country trek to gather fodder for an “off-the grid book” has reported her son is missing.

Noted beautician, Susanne Landgrebe says she last heard from her son, Daniel, on June 24.

“In Cheyenne, Wyoming, they ran into this Freight Train Riders of America gang. If you Google anything about them, they’re like a horrible, violent gang that are well-known. I’d never heard of them, but they’re horrible,” Landgrebe says. “…Daniel got a knife pulled on him for getting in a freight car where one of the guys was in.”…

Movie The East – interview with Director

Web site Female First captured an interview with Zal Batmanglij Director’s of The East (being released in the UK this week).

The East is about a young woman who works for a private intelligence firm. She is conservative and religious and she remakes herself as the exact opposite in a bid to infiltrate a group of anarchists who are committing direct actions against corporations, is how Zal sums up the plot.

– You wrote and directed – so where did the idea for the film start?

I co-wrote it with the leading lady Brit Marling and for us it started with the idea that we were seeing a lot of generational frustrations. I think our generation felt frustrated in a way that was that was unique and palpable and we wanted to capture that.

We thought the idea of a person from the corporate space and people from living off the grid that naturally comprised two extremes of the generation.…

Another Post-SHTF Worry

walking-the-dog

From regular contributor Corey Naughton

This article will start with a story. I had a little incident this weekend that brought about this realization and I’d like to share it with you all.

I took Friday off work in order to make sure I had some extra time this weekend to build a barn. Of course we had high winds all weekend so that plan went to … poop. So on Friday I was sitting around with little to do and decided to take the dog for a long walk. We got a new puppy recently and she needed a work out.…
