Preppers are always trying to get everyone else to at least begin stocking up on some short and long term food storage, honestly the biggest reason is because the more of you who prep, the fewer of you we have to worry about showing up on our doorsteps if/when the SHTF… of course we ALL hope that none of this is ever needed, I wouldn’t be a bit upset if 20, 30, or more years from now I get a big “I told you so…” from those who never prep… but the reality is, it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
So with that said, here are a few videos showing the sorts of things that are relatively inexpensive and easy to stock up on. Things like protein, it’s something we all need in our diet, the good thing about these sources of protein is they don’t require refrigeration and most of them are relatively easy to open, they have pop-tabs or come in pouches that don’t require anything but your fingers to open.
You can find these items in cans, pouches and such in many dollar stores and main stream stores where you normally shop, I stocked up on lots of these before moving off-grid, mainly because I knew I wouldn’t have a good way to keep things cold, I also knew that I wouldn’t have much in the way of income coming in and quite frankly, going hungry just sucks the life right out of you.

Good video about prepping on a budget…
This guy has some good ideas about non-food things that should be added to your preps, these are things that are often overlooked, such as disposable dishes (paper plates, plastic cups & utensils…), and other things, if the power is off, chances are the water will also stop running, assuming you have some water put up (you do, don’t you?), you aren’t going to want to use your precious water for washing dishes…
Susan’s book, “Poverty Prepping: How to Stock up For Tomorrow When You Can’t Afford To Eat Today“, shows that even on the smallest paychecks, it is possible to prep, to help set up a buffer against even harder times, even if it’s only one or two extra items per paycheck, even if you have to sacrifice some other thing to do this, it’s worth sacrificing for a short period of time for the better good for you and your family. You can read a full review of this inexpensive prepping book here: https://off-grid.net/2012/10/13/prepping-on-a-budget-part-2-book-review/
Start here and now if you haven’t started prepping yet, you don’t have to become a nutty hording prepper like they keep showing on those reality shows, keep a low profile and keep prepping a little at a time, just do it!
