I live in Navarre, FL and have a second home in Murphy, NC. Both homes are off the grid and they are named Lo_Tide and Hi^Tide. I am an accidental off-the-gridder, since both houses just appeared as great opportunities to me when I bought them, and the fact that they did not have utility power or water did not trump location, location, location. I made it work by doing what needed to be done to provide my own electricity and water.
